Create a cover illustration for DG Magazine — a magazine for the design community — choosing a notable artist to feature in the design.

 

Design Concept

Yayoi Kusama was selected as the cover artist. My concept was based on her words: “I have a flood of ideas in my mind...” Her art, just like her personality is bold, unique, often unpredictable and extraordinary so I created the cover design to reflect that. The illustration was created as a collage — using a portrait of the artist and some of her most famous iconic artworks and shapes. I also made several custom Adobe Photoshop brushes to add extra texture and dimension.
